Yates Racing

As many of you have heard, Yates Racing has announced that Bobby Labonte, Hall Of Fame Racing, and Ask.com have merged with their team to form a four-car operation, BUT have decided to make some changes. Travis Kvapil and David Gilliland, Yates 2008 drivers, may not be returning for 2009, nor will their rides, Kvapil's #28 and Gilliland's #38. Instead, there will be the #96 Ask.com Ford of Bobby Labonte and the #98 Menards Ford of Paul Menard. However, the 28 and 96 will switch owners points, as will the 38 and 98. This is something that caught my attention, so I checked the owners points for the first five races of 2009 for the 28, 38, 96, and 98 cars owners slots.
Here is what I found:
#28-Kvapil 23rd Place
#38-Gilliland 27th Place
#96-Labonte 37th Place
#98-Menard 55th Place (New Team)
Here is what I would have done with the owners points swaps:
1) Keep the 28 and 38 the same
2) Wait to see what happens with the #10 of AJ Allmendinger, the #8 of Aric Almirola, the #42 of Juan Pablo Montoya, the #41 with the driver TBA, and the #22 with the driver TBA
*Note: These teams, I think will be the most likely to shut down.
3) Switch the 96 and 98 car owners points.
This would keep the teams open.
